During the end of the year, the Dutch again wished each other a Happy New Year via the mobile network. KPN and T-Mobile log data usage.
Last year’s data record was more than broken at KPN: 453 terabytes of mobile data was used. This is 32 percent more than last year (343 terabytes) and sixty times more than in 2014. According to KPN, the network’s peak load was between 0.05 and 0.10 for mobile data usage , calls and SMS.
Approximately 1.2 million text messages were sent between 10pm and 4am. This is slightly lower than the previous year (1.4 million). The number of phone calls has also decreased slightly compared to last year. More than 3.9 million phone calls were made this year. Last year they were 4.1 million.
T-Mobile also saw an increase in data usage during the end of the year. 5% more data was used than last year, but the provider doesn’t report exactly how much. The peak was between 0.05 and 0.15 hours.
