Director of Investigation as well as Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Brigadier General Asep Guntur Rahayu Today he was examined as a witness in the trial for alleged ethical violations, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Johanis Tanak. Brigadier General Asep apparently the mitigating witness that Tanak presented.
“Yes, Mr. Asep is one of the mitigating witnesses submitted by Mr. JT,” said KPK Board of Trustees member Syamsuddin Haris when contacted, Friday (5/8/2023).
Brigadier General Asep arrived at the KPK Dewas building at around 08.59 WIB. He did not say much and only confirmed that he was present as a witness at the ethics trial of Johanis Tanak.
Apart from Asep, the KPK Board of Trustees also examined KPK chairman Firli Bahuri as a witness today. Syamsuddin said that his party had examined Firli for 90 minutes.
“Pak FB was a witness from 09.00 WIB to 10.30 WIB,” said Syamsuddin.
So far, three KPK leaders have been questioned in the trial for alleged ethical violations committed by Johanis Tanak. Two KPK deputy chairmen Nurul Ghufron and Nawawi Pomolango were questioned by the Dewas on Thursday (27/7).
Today the KPK Dewas continues to examine Firli Bahuri and Asep Guntur. Dewas will not yet read out the verdict to Johanis Tanak after today’s examination of the witnesses is over.
The case of alleged violation of Johanis Tanak’s ethics began with a viral history of a conversation he had with an official from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Muhammad Idris Froyoto Sihite. The conversation allegedly occurred during the process of investigating the alleged corruption case at ESDM.
A snippet of the conversation via the messaging application between Johanis Tanak and Muhammad Idris Froyoto Sihite, which contains ‘can we make money’, also went viral on social media. Johanis Tanak swears that the conversation took place before the investigation order was issued.
At first, Johanis Tanak said he did not know that Idris Sihite had become Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal. What he knows, according to him, is that Idris is still serving as Head of EMR Legal.
Johanis Tanak was then reported to the KPK Board of Trustees. The gods also conducted an investigation. As a result, the KPK Dewas found other chats besides the material reported against Tanak.
