Head of Reporting Section of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Ali Fikri responds to family protests about the Governor of Papua Luke Enembe brought to Jakarta did not use a Garuda Indonesia aircraft.
“We suggest that it is better to focus on substantive matters such as defending the rights of suspects and proving otherwise for what we suspect of suspect LE. [Lukas Enembe]. But of course it must be carried out in accordance with the law,” Ali said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (12/1).
Ali ensured that the KPK complied with all applicable rules in every process carried out. This included arresting and bringing Enembe to Jakarta.
The KPK, said Ali, also invited people who claimed to be family when they brought Lukas Enembe. Medical personnel were also involved to ensure Lukas’ health condition while he was being brought to Jakarta.
“We even included parties claiming to be family on the flight in the hope of witnessing that all processes carried out by the KPK complied with the rule of law,” explained Ali.
Previously, Lukas Enembe was arrested and taken to Jakarta by the Corruption Eradication Commission on a chartered Trigana Air flight for the Jayapura-Sorong-Manado-Jakarta route on Tuesday (10/1).
The family then protested that Enembe was brought to Jakarta not on a Garuda Indonesia plane.
The family also regretted the KPK’s arrest, which was seen as not paying attention to Lukas’ health.
“How can this country, the KPK not be allowed. Kidnapping is not allowed. This does not (fulfill) the conditions for (bringing) sick people to Jakarta. What kind of plane are they given, not Garuda planes anymore. This is already a crime,” said Lukas’ younger brother, Elius Enembe when met at the Jakarta Army Hospital, Wednesday (11/1) evening.
Enembe is suspected of receiving bribes from PT Tabi Bangun Papua (TBP) Director Rijatono Lakka regarding infrastructure projects at the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov).
