Jakarta –
Luke Enembe sent a letter to the leadership of the KPK asking for permission to seek medical treatment abroad. KPK Director of Investigation (Dirdik) Asep Guntur Rahayu suspects that there is another motive behind Lukas Enembe’s request.
“We are currently investigating the motive why Mr. LE (Lukas Enembe) always wants to go to Singapore for treatment. What’s really going on?” he told journalists, Friday (23/3/2023).
Asep considered it inappropriate for Lukas Enembe to deliberately not take the medicine provided by the KPK medical team. According to him, the existing health workers are still capable of providing medical treatment to Lukas.
“Even though we have carried out a coordination meeting with the Ministry of Health and IDI (Indonesian Doctors Association) and other parties that the results for health care problems in Jakarta, both the treatment and the medical staff are very adequate,” he explained.
“So for medical personnel at the RSPAD (Central Army Hospital) it is very adequate so there is no need to seek treatment there regarding Pak LE’s illness,” he added.
Previously, Lukas Enembe again complained about his health condition while undergoing detention at the KPK Detention Center as a suspect in bribery and gratuity cases. Most recently, Lukas ‘went on strike’ to take the medicine given by the KPK team of doctors.
“Mr. Lukas Enembe refused to take the medicine provided by the KPK doctor because there had been no change in the pain he had been suffering since Mr. Lukas took the medicine provided by the KPK doctor. And the proof is that my client’s two legs are still swollen to this day and his walk is limping. ,” said Luke’s attorney, Petrus Bala Pattyona, to reporters, Wednesday (22/3).
Petrus said that his client had chosen not to take the medicine provided by the KPK medical team since Sunday (19/3). He claimed that Lukas Enembe’s health had not shown any improvement while being handled by the KPK medical team.
In addition, he said that Lukas Enembe sent another letter addressed to the KPK leadership on Tuesday (21/3). In the letter, Lukas again asked to be allowed to seek treatment abroad.
“Mr. Lukas Enembe asked that his treatment be carried out at a Singapore hospital. Because those who really understand and understand Mr. Lukas Enembe’s illness are the doctors at Singapore’s Mount Elisabeth Hospital,” said Petrus.
In Lukas Enembe’s latest letter to the Corruption Eradication Commission, the non-active governor of Papua considered that he should be treated in a hospital, not detained at the KPK detention center.
“I am a sick person who should receive treatment at the hospital and not be placed in the KPK detention center,” said an excerpt from Lukas’ letter to the KPK.
