KPK Investigators Become Suspects Related to the Handling of the Tanjungbalai Mayor’s Case

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Corruption Eradication Commission (NCP) set KPK investigators, Stepanus Robin Pattuju as a suspect in receiving gifts or promises by state officials regarding case handling Mayor of Tanjungbalai 2020-2021.

“The KPK has stepped up the case and named three suspects, first brother SRP (Stepanus Robin Pattuju), second MH (Maskur Husain), third MS (M Syahrial),” said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, at the KPK’s Red and White House, Jakarta, Thursday ( 22/4/2021) evening.

Apart from Stepanus, the KPK named the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial and a lawyer named Maskur Husain as suspects.

Stepanus and Maskur allegedly received gifts or promises from Syahrial so that the investigation into the case at the Tanjungbalai City Government conducted by the KPK was stopped.

Regarding the case at the Tanjungbalai City Government, the KPK has not announced a suspect. The investigation is still continuing.

Meanwhile, regarding the alleged gift or promise by Syahrial, Firli said that the KPK had examined eight witnesses in the alleged bribery case.

For his actions, Steppanus and Maksur are suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or i and Article 11 or Article 12 B of the Corruption Law Jo Article 55 Paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, M Syahrial was charged with Article 5 Paragraph (1) letter a or b or Article 13 of the Corruption Law.
