KPK Ethics Trial for 93 Officers in Jakarta Detention Center Extortion Case

Jakarta

A total of 93 officers KPK will undergo an ethics trial regarding cases of illegal levies or extortion at the KPK Detention Center. The KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) said that one of the employees suspected of being involved in extortion was Mustarsidin when he was still a prison officer.

“His name is also included, but the crime will be clearer later,” said a member of the KPK Dewas at the ACLC KPK building, South Jakarta, Thursday (11/1/2024).

Mustarsidin has been subject to dismissal as a KPK employee since September 2023. He was fired after he was proven to have sexually harassed the prisoner’s wife.

Albertina said that the KPK Council is currently unable to investigate Mustarsidin ethically because he is no longer part of the KPK staff. However, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Council encouraged Mustarsidin to be criminally investigated for his involvement in the prison extortion case.

“Mustarsidin has been dismissed, so he can no longer touch ethics. As for criminal matters, that’s the case there,” said Albertina.

Mustardidin Sexual Harassment Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) previously fired the KPK employee initials M who harassed the wife of a KPK prison detainee. The perpetrator has been fired since early September 2023.

“The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imposed a severe disciplinary penalty in the form of dismissal on Brother M. Starting from the date of dismissal as of September 7 2023,” Ali told reporters, Monday (11/9/2023).

Ali said there were two articles in PP Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline that were violated by the perpetrator. The perpetrator was deemed to have no integrity and exemplary attitude.

“The Corruption Eradication Commission stated that Brother M had violated Article 3 letter f PP Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline in the form of actions that did not show integrity and exemplary attitudes, behavior, speech and actions towards everyone, both inside and outside the service,” said Ali.

Perpetrator M also violated Article 5 letter a. He is considered to have abused his authority.

“Brother M has also violated Article 5 letter a of PP Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline in the form of abuse of authority,” concluded Ali.
