Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated money worth Rp 1 billion in a sting operation (OTT) of the KPK Regent of North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, Abdul Gafur Mas’ud. The KPK said the money was in a suitcase that Abdul Gafur brought when he was at the Plaza Senayan mall.
“The evidence that was confiscated was Rp. 1 billion in a suitcase at the mall,” said an internal source detik.com at the KPK, Thursday (13/1/2022).
The internal source said the money was allegedly used for Abdul Gafur’s purposes in Jakarta.
“The money is for the needs of the PPU Regent, Mr. AGM in Jakarta,” he said.
Abdul Gafur Mas’ud is known to have been arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission in a red-handed operation at a mall in the Senayan area, Jakarta. Apart from Abdul Gafur, there were 10 other people who were caught by the KPK OTT.
“Thank you for the support of the community and all parties so that the KPK can carry out its tasks of eradicating corruption, including the KPK in arresting one of the regents in the East Kalimantan region, namely the North Penajam Paser Regent and 10 people involved in the custody of the Deputy for KPK’s Enforcement Team,” he said. Firli emphasized that the KPK is always working to free Indonesia from corrupt practices. Firli asked for support from the Indonesian people to fight corruption.
“We are working to take action to liberate this country from corrupt practices. The KPK will continue to work until Indonesia is free and free from corruption. But the KPK is very aware that eradication cannot be carried out by one institution or one person. It needs the work and participation of all Indonesian people as well as all chambers of legislative, executive, judicial, and political parties as well as all the nation’s children. Let’s create an Indonesia that is free and free from corruption,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, said that the OTT against Abdul Gafur Mas’ud was related to the alleged bribery.
“It is true that yesterday, January 12, 2022, the KPK has actively arrested state officials in the North Penajam Paser area for allegedly accepting bribes and gratuities,” said Nurul Ghufron when asked for confirmation, Thursday (13/1).
