KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri’s Cellphone Allegedly Hacked: Questions Arise

Mobile phone (cell phone) KPK chairman Firli Bahuri allegedly hacked. Several people have questioned this news.

This news started when the cellphone belonged to one of the KPK leaders and employees KPK experiencing hacking. KPK IT handles this problem and coordinates with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo).

“Since Monday (10/4) morning the cellphone of one of the KPK leaders and employees has been hacked. This problem is still being handled by KPK IT for recovery. The KPK is also coordinating it with the Ministry of Communication and Information,” said Head of KPK Reporting Unit Ali Fikri told reporters, Tuesday (11/4/2023).

According to sources detikcomthe cellphone of the KPK leader who claimed to have been hacked was the cellphone belonging to KPK chairman Firli Bahuri.

The KPK asked the public to be wary of modus operandi using the name of the KPK leadership. Ali asked the public to remain vigilant.

“We urge the public to continue to be careful if there are modes that violate the law on behalf of KPK leaders or employees,” said Ali.

He added, the eradication of corruption will be successful if there is support from the community.

“The success of eradicating corruption in this country, of course, is the success of all Indonesian people,” he added.

KPK Leadership Response

Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwati admitted that he did not know anything about the suspicion that the cellphone belonging to KPK chairman Firli Bahuri was hacked. Alex said that Firli had not contacted his number for a long time.

“I don’t know if it was damaged or hacked,” said Alex at the ACLC building, Jakarta, Tuesday (11/4).

“But what is clear is that Mr. Chairman’s cell phone has not contacted me for a long time, maybe it is broken or something,” added Alex.

Several Questions

Former Head of the KPK Employees Association Yudi Purnomo said the hacking of KPK chairman Firli Bahuri’s cellphone as a strange coincidence. He said Firli should report to the police.

“Firli should have reported the hack to the police so that the cyber team could check whether his cellphone was hacked or not, it’s a strange coincidence,” Yudi told reporters, Tuesday (11/4).

“Firli’s cellphone was hacked even though he was being reported to the Dewas regarding allegations leak of investigative documents at ESDM,” he continued.

Yudi said Firli’s cellphone was one of the important pieces of evidence in relation to the alleged document leak.
