The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has called on the government to enforce policies that promote the rights of children with Down Syndrome at the village level. KPAI member Diyah Puspitarini stressed the importance of implementing policies that ensure children with Down Syndrome have equal access to education, health services, legal protection, and civil rights. According to KPAI, fewer than half of eligible children with disabilities attend school, and those with Down Syndrome are particularly vulnerable to violence. The commission received 123 complaints about rights violations in 2022, but Puspitarini believes the actual number of incidents is higher. She urged all parties to be proactive in reporting violations and promoting the acceptance of children with Down Syndrome in society.
