Solo — The Solo AIDS Commission (KPA) recorded that 954 people were infected with HIV/AIDS. The data is an accumulation of previous years.
“As of early September, we found that there were 954 people infected with HIV/AIDS,” said Secretary of KPA Solo, Widdi Srihanto, Saturday (4/9).
He said the number of people exposed to HIV/AIDS may increase considering that there are still people affected by HIV/AIDS who do not report to the KPA at the village or city level.
“The situation is like that there are still people affected by HIV/AIDS who don’t report it. For various reasons we can’t do much,” he said.
He also found that there were HIV/AIDS patients who were still in the treatment stage and suddenly disappeared. In fact, the City Government has tried hard to provide assistance.
“There are many problems in the field in dealing with HIV/AIDS in Solo. We can only do our best so that HIV/AIDS in Solo does not increase,” he said.
Mentioned, the addition of HIV / AIDS in Solo from January to August about 50 people. For HIV/AIDS patients in Solo, they vary in age, some are babies, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly.
“For HIV/AIDS transmission from adults usually occurs because of free sex or having sex,” he said.
While transmission to children and infants, he continued, was infected from their parents. Admittedly, of the HIV/AIDS patients treated by KPA Solo, not only Solo residents, but also local Solo residents.
“We are still helping residents from outside Solo because this is about humanity. We also help educate children with HIV/AIDS, although we regret that there are schools that refuse,” he added.
