Two sides of the coin
Małgorzata Kożuchowska, who is a believer, guided in her life by Christian principles, responded to the situation. As a woman and a mother at the same time, she has a lot to say in this regard. Although it defends the judges of the Tribunal, it emphasizes that women cannot be deprived of the right to choose.
– I’m absolutely for life! Life is of paramount importance. I believe that the giver of life is God who is love. The Constitutional Tribunal ruled that the right to abortion was inconsistent with the Polish constitution in the event of severe fetal impairment. And it sparked a revolution. I would not like to be in the shoes of the members of the Constitutional Tribunal and decide on such difficult and sensitive issues as the right to terminate pregnancy – wrote Kożuchowska on the Internet.
And although the actress does not want to take sides in the conflict and usually does not get involved in political clashes, this time she cannot remain silent and remain indifferent to the fate of Polish women.
– However, I cannot but speak on this matter, because I am a mother and I am Polish. I understand that the competences and consciences of the members of the Constitutional Tribunal did not allow them to decide otherwise. They aroused the opposition and anger of women who refuse to let someone who legislate decide about the most intimate sphere of their lives: to give birth to a terminally ill child or to have an abortion – explains Kożuchowska.
– God gave man free will. And man has the right to use this free will, bearing all the often painful consequences of his choices. A law that takes away this freedom from a person (even if it is established with good intentions) will not solve the problem. A man must always make a choice himself – concludes Małgorzata.
