With a delegation of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors headed by Christoforos Sevastidis, the president met at the headquarters of the KKE in Perissos. of the Dimitris Koutsoubas party.
“Recently, the Judiciary has been very quick in making decisions to manipulate strikes – mobilizations and make them illegal or proceed with fast-paced auctions of poor people’s public housing, but it is too slow, at a “turtle pace” for serious issues that even concern the lives of our fellow human beings. As for example with the crime of Tempe, which the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court gave, in fact “urgent” she says after two years – and while we had submitted the Conclusion and one of the main points was that the videotaped movements of the trains disappeared, along with all the rest that was done – to be checked today,” said D. Koutsoumpas.
Addressing the representatives of the judges and prosecutors, he added: “We will tell you the views of the KKE and the actions we intend to take in the Parliament and everywhere and in the movement and of course we will listen to you, because we have open ears and eyes for the Justice, we have great respect, but we do not overlook that it is an element of the general state and of this system, which unfortunately has a lot of corruption and a lot of rot, I am referring to the state apparatus as a whole and the governments that serve it.”
For its part, the Union delegation expressed its thanks for the support from the KKE side of the request to reinstate the 13th and 14th salary.
He called the government’s intention to increase the retirement limits of judges to 70 years, which he disagrees with, a precursor to the overall increase in retirement limits. He addressed the issue of the intensity of repression, through the tightening of penalties, the generalization of the imposition of temporary coke detention, pointing out that, among other things, it is also linked to the promotion of the establishment of private prisons.
The question of how to apply artificial intelligence to justice was also discussed, due to the possible negative consequences prescribed for its award. It was emphasized that the necessary measures are not being taken to deal with understaffing and deficiencies in building infrastructure, but changes are being promoted in a negative direction, such as the pursuit of a cut in judicial reasoning.
The Union delegation emphasized that it will raise the issue of the election of the leadership of the Judiciary in the context of the procedure announced by the Prime Minister for the new constitutional review, so that it does not depend on the current government majority.
For its part, the KKE delegation expressed support for the Union’s positions on these critical issues.
