Kostas Hatzis took a position on the uproar that has erupted lately regarding the latest statements of Giorgos Dalaras about the artists who shoot commercials.
Invited to the show Tet a Tet with Tasos Tryphonos, the iconic artist referred to the path of Giorgos Dalaras and what he has offered all these years.
«Don’t confuse advertising, the point is how we do it. I don’t follow the market at all, but I know how much many people have contributed in the field of culture.
We forget some things. What has Dalaras done? Have we forgotten?
He dug up all the folk singers and brought them back to the surface. So how much has he contributed to the field of culture? Now don’t blame him, don’t do something like that.
Then there are presenters and journalists who have delivered and continue to deliver. But I don’t know now, I don’t follow it. I don’t follow the market at all. I’m interested in how useful we can be within this system.”
To the journalist’s question about whether he has ever been offered to advertise a product, the songwriter replied:
«No, I have my opinions but I may not be able to defeat them. But I can do something. Because sometimes we talk about “what we found”. Well, we found the foustanella and the tsaruchias and we used to cook with firewood but you see today we have electric stoves and refrigerators. Why don’t we keep what we found? So, today too there is a change but we do the same things».
