“The adoption of the so-called ‘French proposal’ by the parliament in North Macedonia is not a surprise to us, just as it is not a surprise that a modified proposal was adopted, the changes of which we were never notified.”
This is stated in the position of the leader of “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov, distributed by the press center of the party.
“Vazrazhdane” has already submitted its proposal to the secretariat of the National Assembly to cancel the decision already taken by the Bulgarian Parliament, in view of the fact that there is a discrepancy between the options voted in Sofia and Skopje, he recalls.
However, as is well known, the current ruling majority refused to allow the proposal as an item on the agenda at all.
The position of “Vazrazhdane” is that this is an additional and even more valid reason to have early elections very soon. With a new composition of the National Assembly, there will be a much greater chance for a new decision of the Bulgarian Parliament and for a new opportunity to renegotiate the conditions under which Bulgaria allowed the beginning of the negotiation process of North Macedonia for membership in the European Union.
We are categorical that the implementation of the Bulgarian conditions must precede the negotiation process and every single detail of it, for which we will fight in the 48th National Assembly as well, Kostadinov points out.
“Looking at the crises that affect us daily, a large part of the Bulgarian society did not pay attention to the fact that during her visit to the parliament of North Macedonia, Ursula von der Leyen categorically explained that the negotiation process will not include historical issues, she also stated that there is a Macedonian language. The Macedonian parliament accepted the “French proposal” after for days there were statements on its rostrum that expressed Bulgarianophobia,” emphasized the leader of “Vazrazhdane”.
“This shows that our European partners have once again betrayed us, putting community interests ahead of our national interest. They have shown us clearly and categorically that they defend positions that are pro-Macedonian and not pro-Bulgarian, regardless of the fact that Bulgaria is a member of the European Union. This once again showed that our status in the union is not that of a full member, but is equal to the status of service personnel”, adds Kostadin Kostadinov.
