Kosovo’s national team captain furious after Sweden’s penalty in World Cup qualifier: “Corked”

Emil Forsberg gave Sweden the lead on penalties.

A decision that made the Kosovo national team captain look red.

– It’s a stupid rule, he thunders afterwards.

Just under half an hour into the match between Sweden and Kosovo, the home team was penalized after a Viktor Claesson nod at close range took the hand of Florent Hadergjonaj. After just over five minutes of VAR scrutiny, referee Marco Di Bello pointed to the penalty spot.

Emil Forsberg put 1-0 and then it ran on. It ended with a Swedish 3-0 victory.

“Stupid rule”

When Kosovo’s national team captain Bernard Challandes stepped into the press conference after the match, it basically smoked out of the man’s ears.

He was insane about the penalty situation.

– I have a problem with the punishment. It’s an idiotic rule, it’s stupid. There can be no punishment in such a situation, he thunders.

– I got the explanation from the referee and he says that if you nod the ball on an opponent’s arm, it is not a penalty, but if you chest it or get it on the body so that it touches an opponent’s arm, it is a penalty. It’s not the judge’s fault. It is the rule that is idiotic, says Challandes.
