Pristina: Road traffic has been restored at the Kosovo-Serbia border. The conflict was caused by the ban on vehicles with Belgrade license plates in areas bordering Serbia in Kosovo and the subsequent blocking of the road by ethnic Serbs.
Protesters agreed to lead the way after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic spoke with Serbs in northern Kosovo. War fears were stoked by Serbia’s increased military deployment along the border, citing alleged persecution of ethnic Serbs in Kosovo.
After a bloody war in 1998-99, Albanian-majority Kosovo was liberated from Serbia. Countries of the world, including the United States, have recognized Kosovo as an independent country, but Serbia is not ready.
