Jakarta –
Transportation observer Djoko Setijowarno accused the Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Police less serious handle truck over dimension over loading (ODOL) as a result of the deadly accident that recently occurred in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (Kaltim). Kakorlantas Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi responded to the accusations.
“The handling of ODOL (trucks) must be from upstream to downstream,” said Firman when asked for confirmation, Saturday (22/1/2022).
Firman emphasized that his party will continue to coordinate to take action against ODOL trucks. He also hopes that all parties will play an active role, not just Korlantas.
“We continue to coordinate about this. Hopefully all parties participate actively,” he said.
It is known, a fatal accident involving a watch truck occurred in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (Kaltim). Transportation observer Djoko Setijowarno asked the National Police Korlantas to seriously handle ODOL trucks.
“Korlantas must be serious in handling ODOL trucks, KNKT must immediately go to the field,” said Djoko Setijowarno to detik.com, Friday (21/1).
According to Djoko, the tragedy of large cargo trucks due to brake failure occurs almost every day. “There’s not a day without brake failure,” he explained.
Djoko said several times he attended meetings with a number of officials, from the Director General of Land Transportation to the Director General of Highways, regarding ODOL trucks. However, he highlighted the absence of Korlantas.
“The problem is, I often attend meetings with Bina Marga, but the Korlantas never attends when invited,” said Djoko.
“Korlantas is not serious, so this is an effort to enforce the law. Try Korlantas seriously, I’m sure (trucks) with more cargo won’t dare, really,” he continued.
