Korg introduces two new build-it-yourself pedals, the TR-S and HD-S

Korg has unveiled two new NuTekt contraptions, the TR-S Tube Amp Emulator and the HD-S Distortion, that you can easily create.

With no soldering required, each pedal comes with all the tools you need to connect them, including an easy-to-use circuit diagram. The new pair joins the brand’s OD-S overdrive pedal, which was announced back at NAMM 2020, to continue the line of NuTekt box builds.

The design of each is relatively similar to the OD-S, with four control knobs, a foot switch, and an LED light. This time each model comes with a smaller screen and three additional internal parameters.

Korg’s NewTube technology also returns in the TR-S, which Korg says will give guitarists “a tube amp-like feel when recording or even playing with a transistor amplifier.” This pedal has controls for volume, power jack, tube gain, and mix that go from live tube to tube.

On the other hand, the HD-S offers three different distortion circuits, and Korg themselves say the pedal is suitable for use with other instruments and guitars such as basses, synths, and more. Controls for volume, pitch, gate, and gain are present on this model, and Korg believes it can unlock “yet undiscovered sounds.”
