Hyundai Motor Group may prioritize other markets due to gains from the depreciation of the South Korean won against the US dollar. The decline has been almost continuous since December 2020, when one dollar could buy 1,090 won. It is now valued at 1,410 won.
It is not known for certain whether the focus of the concern has shifted to overseas markets, but delivery times for new cars of the brands it controls are growing rapidly. Last year, South Korean customers had to wait about 11 months, and this year – 2.5 years.
Koreans pour their bewilderment into thematic forums. So, one of the users recalled that just a year ago the waiting time for one of the models was only seven months. One of the local officials denied the rumors about the priority for Western markets at the expense of the domestic one: according to him, conditions for foreign customers are no less, and the fault of everything is the lack of microcircuits.
