Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) announced on the 28th that Dr. Jenny H. Kwon (pictured), assistant professor of infectious medicine at the School of Medicine, was appointed as the research chair of the Society for Medical Epidemiology (SHEA).
SHEA is composed of doctors and other medical experts specializing in infection prevention and antibiotic management, and is one of the four infection-related societies along with the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Human Immunodeficiency Viral Medicine Society (HIVMA), and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society (PIDS). It works.
The university said Dr. Kwon’s research is focused on reducing infections acquired by patients and health care workers and limiting the spread of dangerous antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
The research is also supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Agency for Health Care and Quality Research (AHRQ), and various foundations.
In addition, Dr. Kwon currently mentors undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, fellows, and residents on antibiotic resistance and infection prevention research.
“The core of Dr. Kwon’s lab is to provide trainees with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to achieve their personal goals,” said the university. It helps them reach their potential.”
