Indonesian volleyball player Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and Daejeon Red Sparks lost dramatically 2-3 to Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders in the continuation of the 2023 Korean Volleyball League at Chungmu Gymnasium, Daejeon, Tuesday (21/11).
Even though they were opponents of the 2023/2024 Korean Women’s Volleyball League standings, Megawati and her friends performed convincingly. The Pink Spiders had taken the lead at the start of the first set, but Megawati’s dangerous spike put her team back in front 2-1.
Likewise, when entering the middle of the first set when the position was 11-11, Megawati again put her team ahead with a cross spike that her opponent was unable to control.
Chasing numbers continued until the end of the first set. But once again, Megawati played a vital role when her service ace closed the first set for the Red Sparks with a score of 25-23.
However, the Pink Spiders were able to control the game in the second set. Point after point presented by Megawati was unable to catch up with the deficit. Red Sparks was forced to admit defeat 17-25 in the second set.
But they finally recovered in the third set. Megawati again became a scourge for opponents with deadly spikes and service aces that were effective in gaining points for the Red Sparks.
The Red Sparks continued to control the third set from start to finish. Megawati and friends managed to finish the third set with 25-21.
In the fourth set Megawati was still the team’s mainstay. However, the 24-year-old athlete made a mistake in spike at the start of the set, giving his opponent two points. Nevertheless, Megawati slowly paid for her mistake with more measured spikes point by point.
However, Red Sparks’ intensity dropped towards the end of the fourth set. This made the Pink Spiders more able to gain points thanks to the mistakes made by the Red Sparks. The fourth set ended 25-18 in favor of the Pink Spiders.
In the deciding set, the Pink Spiders had more freedom to dictate the Red Sparks’ game. Mistake after mistake resulted in wasted points from the start to the end of the set. Pink Spiders managed to finish the fifth set with 15-9. Red Sparks finally lost 2-3 to Pink Spinders.
