(Hangzhou = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong Gyu-bin = Korean roller skater Jeong Byeong-hee (Chungbuk Sports Council) won the gold medal in the 10,000m (excluding roller skating speed category + points (EP)) at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.

Byung-hee Jeong scored 19 points and won a gold medal in the men’s speed skating EP 10,000m at the competition held at the Qiantang Roller Sports Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on the 30th.

Second place was China’s Jang Zhenhai (14 points), and Korea’s Choi In-ho came in third (11 points) and won a bronze medal.

EP 10,000m is a race format in which athletes who are ranked at a certain number of laps receive points while completing 50 laps around a 200m track, and those who are at the very end are eliminated.

In the lap after the bell rings, the players in 1st and 2nd place receive 2 and 1 point, respectively, and in the last lap, the players in 1st to 3rd place receive 3 to 1 points each. The scores are added up to determine the ranking.
