Korean Rep. Andy Kim quietly cleans the assembly after sweeping away protesters

– South Korean lawmaker Andy Kim (39, New Jersey), who cleaned up the messy parliament after protesters supporting US President Donald Trump broke into Congress and rioted. He is a member of the US House of Representatives who was reelected last November.

On the 7th (local time), the Associated Press released an article and photographic article on Andy Kim’s appearance, illuminating Congressman Kim.

According to the news agency, while walking alone in the corridor of the Capitol on that day, Kim found traces of protesters swept away. A few of the capitol security personnel were cleaning up, and he knelt with them on the floor and silently picked up the trash.

– “I love the Capitol. When I see something I love broken, I’ll want to fix it,” he said. “It was an honor to be there. It was just emotionally affected. What else can I do?”

Rep. Kim said, “This building is special. In particular, the rotunda is awe-inspiring,” he said. “How many generations must have been inspired by this?”

Colleague Tom Malinoski, who witnessed this, said at first he didn’t know he was Kim. He said, “I remember it as 1 o’clock in the morning, there were two bodyguards and I saw another person cleaning something up, and it was Andy,” he said.

Rep. Kim, a second-generation Korean immigrant who spent his school days in New Jersey and graduated from the University of Chicago, was selected as a Rose Scholar and received a Ph.D. in International Relations from Oxford University in England.

In September 2009, he entered the State Department as an Iraqi expert. From 2013 to 2015, he served as an assistant to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and at the White House National Security Council (NSC).
