Regarding the treatment of contaminated water in Fukushima, the Korean government decided to dispatch an inspection team to Japan on the 23rd.
Rather than verification, it was said that it was the nature of safety review and on-site confirmation of the overall discharge process.

The purpose of the inspection team is focused on safety review and on-site verification of the entire discharge process.
For two days from the 23rd, the inspection team plans to look into the overall situation, including the purification of contaminated water in Fukushima and the operation of discharge facilities.
The government explained that it would see how samples are taken from the contaminated water storage tank and how the samples are analyzed after going through the ALPS (Multi-Nuclide Removal Plant).
We drew a line that verification, such as taking samples of contaminated water separately, would not be done at the inspection team level this time.
It is an international agreement that the subject of official verification is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and since Korea is also participating in the IAEA, the IAEA should take the initiative.

″Official verification and evaluation, of course, is what the IAEA should be leading, and it would not be desirable to destroy its credibility by ourselves.″
The government emphasized that Korea is the only IAEA member country to directly check the Japanese site.
Taiwan also dispatched an investigation team to Fukushima, but it was evaluated that information accessibility was lower than that of Korea because it was not a member country.
The size of the inspection team is expected to be around 20 experts in the safety field.
It seems unlikely that civilian experts or civic groups will be included.

″Because this is a government-to-government, state-to-state issue, we are still very negative about involving private experts, and the Japanese side… ″
Regarding the issue of changing the name of Fukushima contaminated water to treated water as requested by the Japanese side, there is currently no special review.
Regarding whether there is a possibility that marine products from Fukushima will be imported in the near future, the government said that there is absolutely no such thing.
He explained that importing marine products requires scientific and technological proof, and above all, the people must be emotionally prepared to accept it.
