TOKYO – Couple Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu ensure a place in the final in the women’s doubles event in badminton Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Greysia/Apriyani to the top party after overthrowing the Korean representative, Lee Sohee/Shin Seungchan.
This achievement makes Greysia/Apriyani the first Indonesian women’s doubles to compete in the Olympic final. They will face the Chinese pair, Chen Qing Chen / Jia Yi Fan who also advanced to the final after defeating other Korean representatives.
Greysia/Apriyani’s journey to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Finals is definitely not an easy one. They faced tight resistance from Lee/Shin in the semifinals which took place at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Saturday (31/7/2021).
Despite winning a straight game or two straight games over the Korean pair, Greysia/Apriyani had to fight more to overcome their opponent this time. The tight scores of 21-19 and 21-17 are evidence of a fierce battle between the two pairs.

Both Greysia/Apriyani and Lee/Shin both played attacking games since the match started. Long rallies also occurred in the second game.
The match was so intense, the racket of one of the Korean players, Shin Seungchan, was destroyed by a collision with his partner, Lee Sohee.
