Premier12 is an international competition in which the top 12 countries in the WBSC rankings participate.
Korea, in Group B, will face Taiwan on the 13th, Cuba on the 14th, Japan on the 15th, Dominican Republic on the 16th, and Australia on the 18th.
The top two countries in Group B will advance to the Super Round and compete for the championship at Tokyo Dome in Japan starting November 21.
Korea, which became the inaugural champion in the first competition in 2015 and runner-up in the second competition in 2019, set its goal of reaching ‘at least the semifinals’ in this competition.
Japan is considered the strongest in Group B.

Korea selected submariner Ko Young-pyo (KT Wiz) as the starter for the match against Taiwan.
Manager Ryu Joong-il revealed the reason for selecting Ko Young-pyo as the starter, saying, “There was a power analysis that said Taiwanese batters’ swings would not be able to hit pitchers who throw downwards well. The coaches also think the same.”

Taiwan announced left-handed Lin Yeo-min as the starter.
In last year’s Hangzhou Asian Games baseball preliminaries, Korea was tied up by Lin Yeo-min, unable to score a single point until the sixth inning, and ended up losing 0-4.
When they met again in the finals, they kept the two points they had earned from Lin Yeo-min until the end in the 5th inning, winning 2-0 and taking the gold medal, but they were unable to successfully attack Lin Yeo-min.
The Korean national team expected Lin Yeo-min to start as a starter in the Premier 12 and studied strategy strategies.
