On November 10, the Association for the Democratic Unification of Korea in Japan held a protest in downtown Nagoya, Japan, saying, ‘Stop war-provoking intervention!’ A meeting of national representatives of the Korea Unification Federation for the Resignation of Seok-Yeol Yoon was held.
In solidarity with the referendum being held by Korea’s ‘Resignation Movement Headquarters for Yoon Seok-yeol‘s regime’, participants displayed questionnaires and panels to vote for or against the president’s resignation and gathered opinions demanding his resignation.
Song Se-il, chairman of the Korea Unification Federation, said in his speech, “At the ‘1st rally to resign the Yoon Seok-yeol regime’ held yesterday (November 9), 100,000 people gathered to raise their voices demanding Yoon Seok-yeol’s resignation. “The resignation movement is also growing in the opposition party, candlelight vigils, and civil society,” he said. “The embattled Yoon Seok-yeol regime attacked the core units of the resignation movement with the usual means of suppressing public security, and made it a fait accompli that North Korea’s ‘troop dispatch’ to Russia was a fait accompli.” “They are declaring that they will support lethal weapons in stages,” he pointed out.
He said, “If Korea intervenes in the Ukraine war, the war will expand and tensions between North and South Korea will inevitably increase. “We must resolutely block this war-provoking intervention by the Yoon Seok-yeol regime,” he said. “Now is the time to stand in solidarity with our comrades and bring down the Yoon Seok-yeol regime as quickly as possible.”
Remarks from Korea Unification Union member organizations and local headquarters followed.
Han Seong-woo, chairman of the central headquarters of the Korean Youth Alliance in Japan (Hancheong), said, “The most serious of the corruptions of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is the suspicion of interference in nominations. He said, “The public’s anger is reaching its peak due to the conservative government’s continuous manipulation of state affairs,” and claimed, “To overcome the government crisis, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is suppressing progressive organizations and the progressive media.”
At the same time, he emphasized, “I cannot help but feel angry as communications with our Korea Unification Federation and Korean Council are also being mentioned as an excuse for oppression,” and added, “As young Koreans living in Japan, we will vigorously carry out the struggle to force the resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime.”
Goh Hong, Secretary General of the Hyogo Headquarters of the Korea Unification Federation, said, “Seok-Yeol Yoon has been doing politics for his family, not the people, and he has destroyed Korea’s democracy by following the United States and Japan, heightening the war crisis, and abusing the National Security Act and the veto.” “He is not qualified to be president,” he complained.
He continued, “It is always the people who suffer from the evil intentions (of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime). “We, the Korea Unification Federation, need to better understand the people’s anger overseas,” he said, adding, “We will fight together with the Korean people until Yoon Seok-yeol is removed from power.”
At the competition, ‘▲ Reveal the suspicions of Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Geon-hee through the Special Prosecutor Act! ▲ Seok-Yeol Yoon, stop provoking and intervening in war! ▲Three keynotes were proposed and unanimously adopted: ‘Let’s stand in solidarity with the struggle for resignation and make resignation a reality!’
Kim Chang-oh, Vice Chairman of the Korea Unification Federation, said in his closing remarks, “The resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime has now begun to count down. “If the Kim Kun-hee Special Prosecutor Act is adopted in accordance with the people’s demands, the Yoon Seok-yeol regime will collapse at once,” he said, raising his voice, saying, “We must fight until the end until Yoon Seok-yeol resigns, and at the same time, forecast the future of Korean society after he steps down.”
He said, “During the Moon Jae-in administration, even though the majority of the people supported (the inter-Korean agreement), they succumbed to pressure from the United States and were unable to reach any inter-Korean agreement. “The first task we must do after the resignation of Yoon Seok-yeol is to establish an independent democratic government that does not succumb to the pressure of the United States,” he said. “We must overcome the impending war crisis. “Let us use our united power to resign the Yoon Seok-yeol regime and create an era of peace and prosperity,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, participants shouted, “Resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol regime!” shouted slogans.
