Korea Open 2024: Entering the top 16, Indonesian doubles struggle to find food

Two Indonesian men’s doubles pairs can win the round of 32 matches Korea Open 2024Tuesday (27/8), but it was reported that there were problems outside the field.

Leo Rolly Carnando / Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri / Daniel Marthin secured tickets to the round of 16 after winning over the Taiwanese pair. Leo/Bagas controlled Ming Che Lu/Tang Kai We, and Fikri/Daniel controlled Chen Cheng Kuan/Chen Sheng Fa.

Leo/Bagas played first and then Fikri/Daniel. The win in the round of 32 was welcomed, but there was agreement on improving performance.

“Thank God we got the win. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to improve. Our opponents also played well, especially in the second game by giving an even tougher struggle with to change the pattern of play. But we are even more prepared,” said Fikri as quoted from the official PBSI release.

“Compared to last week, our performance at the Korea Open is actually better. The distribution and cooperation is more solid. However, there are still things that need to be corrected and improved. Moreover, the change must be even faster. in terms of the game, we also need to be deeper, said Daniel.

Apart from the competition, Fikri revealed the problems he had with food.

“Here, the problem outside the field is about food. From the hotel, finding food is very difficult and it is also far away. But we are grateful that there is still something to eat , “explained Fikri.

Like Fikri/Daniel, Leo/Bagas are eager to match their performance in the round of 16 which will be played on Thursday (29/8).

“In the second round we will meet the winner between the Canadian and Malaysian doubles. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we can rest and not compete. So we can make a setting first. Look at each other first. Tomorrow morning we practice and in the evening we can watch the video recording of the opponent’s game,” said Leo.

“For evaluation materials as a new partner, what needs to be added is the communication side. As new partners, we need to communicate often. This is so that our game can get better,” said Baggage.
