Korea Internet PC Culture Association signs strategic MOU with HKC of China…expects revitalization of PC room industry

The Korea Internet PC Culture Association (Chairman Lim Su-taek, IPCA) announced that it has signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with Huike Group (HKC), a Chinese display panel manufacturer. This agreement aims to revitalize the domestic PC room industry by effectively providing hardware resources such as monitor all-in-one PCs and cooperation utilizing idle computer resources in PC rooms.

The Korea Internet and PC Culture Association (IPCA), launched in 2001, is the only representative PC room organization in Korea registered with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. We carry out a variety of tasks, including improving systems through legal revisions, improving the management environment, providing regular training for member companies, supplying low-cost products through group purchasing, creating a healthy Internet and gaming culture, and distributing PCs to underprivileged areas.

HKC is a Chinese comprehensive IT company established in 2001, and is responsible for research, production, and sales of display panels. Together with BOE and TCL, it holds the top 3 market share in the Chinese display market and is ranked in the top 6 in the global market.

The agreement ceremony was held at the HKC headquarters in Shenzhen, China on October 16th, and was attended by Central Chairman Lim Soo-taek of the Korea Internet and PC Culture Association, Central Auditor Choi Wan-soon, Vice Chairman Lee Gwang-jae and key officials of HKC.

Chairman Lim Soo-taek said, “We established a relationship with HKC at a workshop last year, and after a year of serious discussions, we signed an MOU.” He added, “I visited HKC Group’s R&D center and factory and personally confirmed the world’s highest level of development, production, and quality inspection. “This agreement will be a great opportunity to provide cost-effective, high-quality monitors to Korean PC rooms,” he said.

An official from the Internet PC Culture Association of Korea (IPCA) said, “HKC is scheduled to participate in the 2024 spring workshop,” and added, “We expect to further strengthen the Korean PC room ecosystem through integration with advanced technology.” He added, “During this business trip, we also had a business meeting with Tencent, a Chinese Internet service company, and Tencent is also showing interest in the workshop.”

An official from Tencent said, “The purpose of this visit was to strengthen technological cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries. In particular, it was an important time to share various experiences and know-how related to game development and increase understanding of each other’s markets.” revealed.

Meanwhile, through this agreement, the Korea Internet PC Culture Association (IPCA) will be able to support the revitalization of the PC room industry and member companies in securing optimal hardware resources. This is expected to be an important stepping stone to further strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic PC room ecosystem.
