President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is on an official visit to Indonesia, will hold a Korea-Indonesia summit today (8th) with President Joko Widodo.
At the summit, the leaders of Korea and Indonesia will discuss ways to strengthen strategic cooperation in the fields of diplomacy and security and deepen partnerships in future industries such as electric vehicles and batteries.
As Indonesia is the chair of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) this year, it is expected that the issue of cooperation to pressure North Korea and Russia’s military cooperation and implement UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea will also come to the table for discussion.
Strengthening supply chain cooperation in key minerals, etc., and advanced technology cooperation are also expected to be discussed.
At the ‘Korea-Indonesia Business Roundtable’ held earlier, President Yoon said, “Now, cooperation between the two countries must expand and develop in terms of quality beyond quantitative growth.” It should be,” he said.
“Indonesia is ASEAN’s largest economy and possesses key minerals,” he said.
After the Korea-Indonesia summit, President Yoon wraps up the schedule for ASEAN-related summits and moves to New Delhi, India, where the G20 summit will be held.
