“Years ago, the guys approached me if I would like to sing the song Sen with them. I liked her right away, so we met in Bratislava for coffee and talked about everything. We found a musical harmony. The guys hit on a genre with that song that’s a little different from what I’m into, but I’m very comfortable with it. It was therefore not difficult to decide on further cooperation,” recalls Langerová.
“Of course, we knew Anet long before we met,” continues Korben Dallas vocalist and guitarist Juraj Benetin. “We watched where he was going in music, and it became closer and more sympathetic to us. We love that she goes her own way and the songs she composes and sings come from her deepest heart. In our opinion, this is not the rule on the Czech scene. Over time, we became convinced that there is a real person hidden in her work, and that when we meet her, we will understand each other. That gave us the courage to contact her.”
The meeting in Bratislava was the beginning of a joint artistic journey, which has so far brought eight songs and finally a tour. All songs are by Korben Dallas.
The Korben Dallas Group: The key is not to repeat yourself
“Right at the beginning, I told the guys that I would work with them, but I wouldn’t compose. They are able to write a song in a few hours, whereas it takes me much longer. Sure, I could have been involved in the creative process, but I didn’t need to, I didn’t feel like it. I only like to be a performer,” explains Langerová.
Korben Dallas, on the other hand, is extremely inspirational when meeting her. It even happened that once before she arrived home from a meeting in Bratislava, a new song by Korben Dallas came to her. In its final form, it was named Chladná.
“Yes, we are able to write a song quickly. In sports, it is said that the best performance comes when one is at match pace. We think it’s the same when composing. So we stay in the creative process, we release our own albums after about a year and a half and we compose constantly,” says bassist Lukáš Fila.
They had previously planned a joint concert tour, but it was canceled due to the pandemic. Therefore, they have only met once on stage so far.
“But it was more of a double concert. I was there with my band, the guys were on their own, and we put together a joint performance a few hours before him. We only connected on stage for a few songs, we didn’t play them all. But now we are going to go out as one body,” states Langerová.
Beginning? In Prague
Czech part tour will start on November 6 in Prague. It will continue a day later with a stop in Fléda in Brno and in Akorda in Ostrava on November 8. The Slovak part will start on November 12 in Košice, continue the day after in Žilina and end on November 14 in Bratislava.
“We are looking forward to finally playing the songs together live. We try to put together the most compact program possible,” says Fila.
“We will supplement the eight joint songs with compositions originally by Korben and originally by Anet. But we will interpret them together, they will have one face and a common aesthetic,” explains Benetin.
Further continuation of cooperation is planned. “Until now, when we finished one season, we looked forward to the next one. Now it’s the same. It may take some time, nothing is planned, but we know that our cooperation is not over,” concluded Benetin.
