Lotte Kopecky has extended her contract with the Dutch top team SD Worx-Protime until 2028. “A logical choice when I see the opportunities I have been given here.”
Lotte Kopecky (28) has been driving for SD Worx since 2022, and will now add another four years. “When I look back as the rider I arrived here two years ago, and when I see the steps I have taken, it is a logical choice for me to continue together,” said the world champion. “This is a place where I feel very good, where I am at ease. I can be myself in this environment, and that is one of the most important things for me.”
In recent years, Kopecky has made an absolute connection with the world’s top at SD Worx. She won, among other things, the Omloop het Nieuwsblad, the Strade Bianche and the Tour of Flanders twice. She is currently second in the world rankings. This season she already won the queen stage and the final classification of the UAE Tour.
“I am very happy to stay with this team until 2028,” Kopecky added. “Team SD Worx-Protime is the best team in the women’s peloton in terms of results. The interaction in this team is very human. We are certainly not seen as robots. Of course we are expected to deliver, but not at all costs.”
“Example and source of inspiration”
Team manager Erwin Janssen points out that Kopecky “has put women’s cycling on the map, especially in Belgium”. “She has now become an example and source of inspiration for many people. Moreover, she has become one of the big stars in women’s cycling. We are convinced that what we have seen in recent seasons is the start of something even greater.”
Team manager Danny Stam is also happy with the contract extension. “Lotte is one of the strongest riders in the peloton. She has made enormous strides in our team over the past two years,” he says. “She has become one of the leaders of the team who everyone looks up to. I am convinced that she can grow even further.”
