Konya confirms Palut-Aus: “You wanted fresh blood, that’s all you said”

Arabam.com Konyaspor officially confirmed the split with coach Ilhan Palut in a club statement on Tuesday. The 46-year-old spoke for the first time about the end in Konya and was visibly surprised: “They said: ‘We think that fresh blood would be good’ and thanked me. That’s all, nothing more happened. To be honest, I never expected that. We expected better results, but not that it would come to this. There has not been something like that before. We were all shocked but all the best for Konyaspor. I will make a separate statement on this after receiving the cancellation document,” Palut was quoted as saying by NTV Spor

Serbs should take the helm

According to Serbian reports, Palut’s successor has already been chosen. According to the “Telegraf” Aleksandar Stanojevic will be the new head coach of the Central Anatolians. The 49-year-old was last active at Partizan Belgrade between September 2020 and the end of May 2022 and averaged 2.42 points per game with the Belgraders in 97 games. After losing the championship to arch-rivals Red Star Belgrade last season, Stanojevic resigned. Since then, the Serb has been without a club. Stanojevic, who also coached Serbia’s U19 national team, has also been active in Saudi Arabia, Greece, Israel and China. According to the Turkish daily “Hürriyet”, Arda Turan was also considered a possible candidate. The 35-year-old recently took part in the Turkish Football Association’s (TFF) seminars and courses in Antalya along with Burak Yilmaz, Semih Kaya, Gökhan Gönül and Mehmet Topal to obtain UEFA B and A licenses.
