“During the winter break of the 2007/08 season, the issue of my transfer from Dnepr was decided. My contract stipulated compensation – five million euros. We have already communicated with Dynamo Kyiv. There was information that they were changing me to Ruslan Rotan. He goes to Dnepr, I go to Dynamo. The agent began to negotiate with Surkis about the transfer and other things. This was around December 10, 2007.
At Dynamo they say: “Let’s complete the negotiations after the New Year, after January 16th.” Let’s sit down and talk.” Two days later there was a call from Shakhtar – “we want to see you, we are paying compensation, come and sign the contract.” I got into the car, signed the contract, and the matter was closed.
The Dnepr fans were angry with me, although I wanted to achieve something with Dnepr and go to Europe. But I was presented with a fait accompli in some things. I’m not sure that Dnepr would have allowed me to play normally.
“Dnepr” wanted me to go to “Dynamo” in exchange for Rotan, I don’t know, with or without additional payment. We talked with Dynamo for two weeks – whether they needed me or not. And “Shakhtar” paid compensation under the contract, 5 million euros, plus 500 thousand euros in taxes, and signed me,” Kravchenko quotes. FanDay.
