The regional mayor of Trakia, Konstantin Dimitrov, is the GERB candidate for mayor of Plovdiv. It was announced personally by the leader of the party, Boyko Borisov, who arrived in the city.

And he appealed to the people of Plovdiv to give their trust to GERB. “There is something to compare with in the last three years. Some time ago we thanked Ziko, then Ivan Totev. Now the coordinator is Mitko Kolev. Slowly and gradually we are changing the generations in the party. With some good results in the elections, with our participation in the assembly , we will help Plovdiv. This is my favorite city,” said Borisov.
“I thank General Borisov for the trust. I have followed him for 17 years. I thank the members of the party from Plovdiv who vote their trust in me,” said the 48-year-old Dimitrov.
According to him, the residents of Trakia are worried that he will not be the mayor of this region. “I tried to solve many problems there. Now it’s time to win the trust of the people of Plovdiv. We are preparing the program and you will get to know my team,” added Dimitrov.
He is a mathematician by education and a taekwondo athlete. He was born on June 5, 1975 in Plovdiv. He graduated in mathematics from the Paisii Hilendarski Polytechnic. He worked in the private sector. He is the vice president of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation. Long-time coach and athlete.
During one of his visits to Plovdiv in February this year, when Borisov distinguished himself from the current mayor Zdravko Dimitrov, he mentioned the name of Kostadin Dimitrov. His managerial career began in the term 2007-2011, when he first became the deputy mayor of the “Central” district. After that, he was appointed by Ivan Totev as the mayor of Trakia, and in the last two mandates he was elected by a majority in the same district.
Borisov said that there are six very good candidates for Sofia. “Now when I get home, I will judge,” added the leader. For two months, the candidates of our coalition partners have been down, only hate. “When you have built thousands of kilometers of parks and fountains in Sofia, you will still find some crooked paving,” explained Borisov. We remind you that the name of Anton Hekimyan was also linked to the party after a rumor started that he would be the GERB candidate for mayor of Sofia. This happened after the journalist announced that he was leaving bTV, and was later spotted around the office of GERB leader Boyko Borisov. However, GERB denies that they offered the journalist this position.
Borisov recommended that a positive campaign be conducted in Plovdiv. “This is a smart city, people will see what has been done and what can be relied on,” added the leader. Kostadin Dimitrov’s program will be presented additionally, but Borisov listed 3 main priorities – the construction of a new bridge over Maritsa, the completion of the Ring Road and the stadiums of the Botev and Lokomotiv teams. “You will show people the road Plovdiv – Asenovgrad and you will tell them that the ring road will look like this,” Boyko Borisov instructed. And he added that there should be no insults in the campaign, especially between partners in the non-coalition, “so that we have a majority even after we return after a 3-week vacation in parliament.” When asked by “24 Chasa” if the candidate of GERB for Plovdiv in the runoff is not the candidate of PP-DB, but another, does he expect an overflow of votes from his partners at the national level, Borisov answered: “We will support them everywhere. “
Of the previous regional mayors, only Georgi Stamenov of “Central” is re-entering the race. The other candidates are: Georgi Gatev – for “Thrace”, Emil Rusinov – for “East”, Angel Slavov for “Zapaden”, Atanas Kunchev – for “South”, and Iliyan Lalev – for “Severen”. The leader of the list will be Kostadin Dimitrov, after him is the current chairman of the GERB group in the Municipal Council, Yordan Iliev. Radoslava Tashkova, who was deputy speaker of the local parliament in the 2015-2019 mandate, returns to the fifth place on the list. Slavi Georgiev, who was an independent councilor until now, is in the ninth position from the civil quota.
After the presentation, the documents for the list and the candidates were submitted to the Municipal Election Commission.
