Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Wednesday afternoon that from now on there is an urgent advice to wear a mouth mask in public space. “For the time being, it will only be an advice and the cabinet will leave the choice with the catering entrepreneurs; this is a decision that they have to make themselves ”, KHN responds.
According to the trade association, public health is always number 1 among catering entrepreneurs. She believes that the government should be able to “substantiate why mouth masks are needed and what this brings in terms of safety.” Especially if at a certain point it is decided to make face masks mandatory.
If that happens, the KHN wants more freedom for the catering industry in return. “Such as Belgium and Germany where, for example, 10 people or more are allowed at the table.”
The Amsterdam department of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland announced on Tuesday that it would advise its members to follow the mouth masks advice when this still applied to a limited number of regions.
