Kongeparken Dam Frozen: Excavator Working to Prevent Overflow

LATEST: At 09.50 the police report that the excavator has managed to open something up for the water. The pressure and resistance are somewhat reduced. E39 is open again, but can be closed again if necessary.

– The dam close to Kongeparken has frozen to ice. This means that the water has risen relatively much south of the dam, explains operations manager in the South West police Victor Fenne-Jensen.

The entire cycle path along the dam is full of water and ice.

– The contractor is on site with at least two excavators. One stands on the E39 to have access to the dam. And one stands on the opposite side, explains the operations manager.

The work requires manual routing of car traffic on the E39, as the excavator is in the roadway.

– The machines work to keep the water at the side of the dam, so that there can be no danger of it overflowing or in the extreme consequence breaking, but we have not received any indications that there is an immediate danger of that, concludes the operations manager.
