Konečný hears and praises “Made in the Czech Republic” in the Middle East – News List

In recent years, the market for smart home products has changed fundamentally. “Fifteen years ago one in five people had a smart home, today it is common for most households, even without the knowledge of the users themselves,” says the founder of the company ELKO EP , which specializes in developing and manufacturing technologies for building automation.

According to him, the energy crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine led to a significant increase in Czech homes from the point of view of smart devices that control, for example, the lighting or the temperature in the house.

“As a result of the events of recent years, demand has focused on solutions that provide energy savings. The first place is the management of heating or air conditioning,” said businessman Jiří Konečný in the Agenda program.

According to him, commercial property owners gave the same to families. “We’ve seen more demand for light control and coordination with shading to reduce heat loss,” he said in an interview.

ELKO EP

  • ELKO EP is a Czech electrical engineering company, founded in 1993 by Jiří Konečný.
  • Since its establishment, it has been based in the town of Holešov in the Zlín region.
  • The main products of the company are electronic relays, and the company makes more than two hundred types.
  • The company now exports products to 77 countries. Exports from abroad make up about 75% of the group’s turnover.

On the Czech market, electronic devices for smart buildings are also produced by Schneider Electric, Siemens or Honeywell.

However, the Czech company is now also active in more than seven dozen foreign markets. Currently, it is mainly focused on countries in the Middle East and India, where ELKO entered this April. It is there, according to him, that the company is now monitoring a growing interest in European brands.

“Made in the Czech Republic helps us build trust,” says Konečný, adding that such a brand is well received in the Middle East, where people say they have a warmer relationship. with European products.

According to him, India, as one of the largest markets in the world, represents a great potential for ELKO. “Our goal for the first year in India is to achieve sales of around one million euros,” he said, adding that entering this market will also give the company a boost for more product development.

The Indian market inspires us and pushes us to new features. There are high demands on how the devices should work. All the brands of the world meet on the market and the competition is high,” he said.
