Kompolnas Monitors Ethics Trial of Former West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Teddy Minahasa

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is participating in monitoring the trial process for the code of ethics and profession against the former West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Teddy Minahasa. Kompolnas member Yusuf Warsyim was present at the hearing.

“Our presence from Kompolnas is in order to carry out a supervisory function. Oversight in Presidential Regulation 17 of 2011 is carried out by monitoring and evaluating,” Yusuf told journalists, after the Teddy Minahasa ethics trial at Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday ( 30/5/2023).

As for the results of the ethics trial against Teddy Minahasa, he was found to have violated ethics and was subject to a dishonorable discharge (PTDH) alias being fired. Yusuf assessed that the trial that was held was credible and professional in accordance with the existing aspect indicators.



“We from Kompolnas, in conducting monitoring and at the same time assessing, consider that this trial has shown its credibility, from the aspect of the decision, and other aspects,” he said.

He further appreciated the course of the trial.

“We from Kompolnas attending this trial quite appreciate the course of this trial,” he added.

“Hopefully all the results that were carried out in this trial will actually benefit all parties, especially for the institution of the Indonesian National Police,” he continued.

To note, the National Police have finished holding an ethics trial against the former West Sumatra Police Chief, Teddy Minahasa. As a result, Teddy was found to have violated ethics and was sentenced to dishonorable discharge (PTDH) or fired.

“Ethical sanctions, namely the behavior of the violator is declared a disgraceful act,” said Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan at the National Police Headquarters, Tuesday (30/5/2023).

“Administrative sanctions in the form of dishonorable dismissal or PTDH as members of the National Police,” he continued.

Ramadhan said Teddy ordered his staff, namely the former Bukittinggi police chief AKBP Dody Prawiranegara, to replace the 5 kg of methamphetamine with alum. The methamphetamine that had been set aside was then sold through a woman named Linda Pujiastuti.
