Kommersant: Xbox warranty service in Russia Discontinued by Microsoft

The American corporation Microsoft does not provide warranty services for Xbox consoles in Russia. Set-top box owners can contact device sellers for this.

Microsoft technical support “Izvestia” reported that “warranty service for consoles, including those officially imported into the Russian Federation, is no longer available due to the current situation.” He recommended contacting the stores where the devices were purchased.

The company did not specify when the warranty service for the devices was suspended. Microsoft began to reduce business in Russia in early March against the backdrop of the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. In particular, the corporation has suspended sales of products and services.

Rospotrebnadzor confirmed to Izvestia that the responsibility for the guarantee lies with the seller. The consumer can make claims to shops. M.Video-Eldorado and Citilink confirmed their readiness to provide warranty service. Ozon noted that either the marketplace itself or the seller provides a guarantee, depending on who the product was purchased from.

As Kommersant reported, over the past year in Russia the number of requests for equipment warranty has increased. According to market participants, this is due to the departure of high-quality foreign brands and the growth in sales of domestic and Chinese products. Experts believe that the Russians “will have to get used to the worse quality” and over time the amount of equipment handed over will return to normal.
