Komjak Will Call Prosecutors Suspectedly Called Djoko Tjandra

Prosecutor’s Commission (Komjak) will summon the prosecutors at attorney General’s Office who allegedly communicated with Djoko Tjandra when he was still at large and was in Malaysia at the end of June.

“We will decide on Tuesday (18/8), when we will send out invitations. Because if we invite people there must be a strong reason,” said the Chairman of Komjak Barita Simanjuntak, to CNNIndonesia.com by telephone, Thursday (12/8).

Previously, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman revealed the name of another high-ranking official at the Attorney General’s Office who had communicated with Djoko Tjandra while still on the run in Malaysia.

The communication between the two was done by telephone on June 29, after Djoko Tjandra caused a commotion because he had entered Indonesia without being noticed.

However, Boyamin was reluctant to name the high ranking AGO official. He submitted evidence of communication between the two to Komjak on Tuesday (11/8). In the report, he asked Komjak to trace the contents of the conversation.

“This is a high-ranking official at the Attorney General’s Office, calling Djoko Tjandra. I did not disclose what the subject matter was. He could have persuaded him to go home,” Boyamin said by telephone to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (11/8) evening.

Currently, Barita continued, his party is still reviewing the report sent by MAKI. The results of the review will later serve as evidence regarding alleged violations committed by individual prosecutors at the AGO.

In the summons later, Komjak will ask for clarification regarding the communication of individual prosecutors as mentioned by MAKI in his report. However, his party could not take further steps, such as presenting evidence of communication between the two.

This is because this is no longer the authority of Komjak, but the right of the investigating team from the Directorate of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO.

“The one who could forcefully present such accurate evidence is an investigation pro jucticia. That is why if the indication is there is strong evidence legally it will become the realm of pro justicia investigations at the Police, the Attorney General’s Office, or the KPK, “he said.

Previously, one of the prosecutors, Pinangki Sirna Malasari, was named a suspect because he had communicated with Djoko Tjandra and was suspected of accepting a Rp7 billion bribe.
