KOMPAS.com – PR Manager Oppo Indonesia, Aryo Meidianto admitted that his party until Monday (12/10/2020) tonight, still could not register numbers IMEI their latest mobile phones to be produced.
According to Aryo, Oppo has not received information and a decision from the Ministry of Communication and Information, whether IMEI can be entered into the Central Equipment Identity Register system ( ASK) or not yet.
“From the factory there was also a response that until this afternoon we (Oppo) could not produce (new cellphones), because the IMEI itself could not be entered (into the CEIR machine),” said Aryo. KompasTekno, Monday (12/10/2020).
Meanwhile, Oppo is urged to continue production, because there is already a lot of market demand. On the other hand, the pressure from consumers and distributors on Oppo’s new products must be met immediately.
Previously, the Director General of SDPPI of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Ismail, claimed that the CEIR machine capacity could accommodate new IMEI data, both for manufactured and imported cellphones, after reducing unused IMEIs.

According to Oppo, this problem has occurred since 16 September, aka the day after the CEIR engine was officially activated. It was reported that many Oppo cellphone users could not receive a signal.
Aryo said that this problem only happened to cellphone products that had just been registered, and in this case it was Oppo A53. As a result, Oppo A53 users cannot use telephone, SMS and internet services through cellular operator services.
Aryo deeply regrets the government’s actions that have not been able to deal with the problem related to the full capacity of CEIR machines. The reason is, if this problem continues, it will have a big impact on the business of Indonesian smartphone vendors, especially Oppo.

Furthermore, Aryo said that this problem does not only have a direct impact on the smartphone vendor industry, but on consumers who consist of various groups, including SMEs, to sell online.
Not only Oppo, Asus cellphone vendors also reported that Asus ROG Phone 3 users did not get a signal when using the second slot (SIM 2).
Apart from that, the full capacity of the CEIR machines also caused the production of local vendors Evercross and Mito to stagnate, and even reportedly had to lay off employees, because production could not run.
