Komarov: Russia will fulfill its commitments to Bulgaria –

/ world today news/ The state corporation “Rosatom” will never change the course of its overseas projects because of overcoming some hypothetical problems in relations with its foreign partners, said the deputy. General Director of Rosatom Kiril Komarov.

“We have never used this and we will not use it to solve controversial issues,” Komarov told the special correspondent of BGNES in Moscow, Georgi Pashkulev, during the Atomexpo-2015 forum.

Komarov noted that earlier a controversial situation arose regarding the project for the construction of the Belene NPP in Bulgaria with the participation of Russia, and the project was stopped by Sofia. “However, Russia never once disrupted the flow of nuclear fuel supplies to the operating units of the Kozloduy NPP,” Komarov stressed.

The tender for the construction of the Belene NPP in Bulgaria, announced in 2005, was won by the Russian company Atomstroyexport. On November 29, 2006, an agreement was signed for the construction of the NPP. However, at the end of March 2012, the Bulgarian government announced the termination of the Belene NPP project.
