Kollam: Preparations for the state school arts festival to be held in Kollam from January 4 are in the final stage. Minister V. Shivankutty announced in a press conference that the director of public education will hoist the flag for the arts festival at 9 am on the 4th morning at the ashram grounds.
Chendamelam, Maiilattam, Shingarimelam and Kalaripayat will be staged on the morning of the 4th. Dham has a choreography of the Kalotsava welcome song featuring actress and dancer Asha Sarath and school students. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the Kalotsavam at 10:00. Ministers KN Balagopal, J Chinchurani, KB Ganeshkumar, PA Muhammad Riaz, K Rajan, NK Premachandran MP, film star Nikhila Vimal and public representatives will be present.
Then on the main stage, the Mohiniyattam competition of high school students will start. On the first day, matches will be held at 23 venues. Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan will inaugurate the closing session at 8:00 PM. Minister GR Anil will release the souvenir. Actor Mammootty will attend the award ceremony.
The welcome song of Kalotsavam was composed by poet Kuripuzha Sreekumar and Biyar Prasad. Gift books to special guests. A state level appeal committee has been constituted to resolve any dispute regarding the result of the competition.
Kollam Railway Station, KSRTC A system has been prepared to receive the contestants at the bus stand. The help desk will be functioning at the railway station from 3rd.
Registration will start at Kollam Town LPS on January 3rd at 10:30 am. Each district will have separate counters. 31 schools have accommodation for both boys and girls.
Minister KN Balagopal, PC Vishnunath MLA, Director of Public Education S Shanavas, ADPI. Santhosh, Kollam D.D.E. Lal, Mayor Prasanna Ernst, Media Committee Convenor Poruvathi Balachandran also attended the press conference.
