Kollam: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the State School Arts Festival at 10 am today.
Minister V Sivankutty will preside over the function which will be held at the ashram grounds. Ministers KN Balagopal, K Rajan, J Chinchurani, KB Ganesh Kumar, PA Muhammad Riaz and actress Nikhila Vimal were the chief guests.
Director of Public Education S Shanawas will hoist the flag at 9 am. This will be followed by Gotra Kala Vishkaram and differently-abled children’s art feast and welcome song presentation by actress Asha Sarath and school students. Then those who prepared the welcome song, dance, logo and flagpole will be honoured.
The art fair will conclude on January 8 at 5 pm. The inauguration will be done by Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan. Minister KN Balagopal will preside. Actor Mammootty is the chief guest. Minister V Sivankutty will honor the talents. Minister GR Anil will release the souvenir. General Convener and Additional Director of Public Education CA Santhosh will announce the championship. Minister Saji Cherian will be the chief guest.
Extensive facilities for students
Accommodation is provided for 2475 boys in fourteen schools and 2250 girls in nine schools. All town bus services, KSRTC and ordinary buses will ply through Chinnakada Ashram via Kadapakkada route till the end of Kalatsavam.
Twenty-five auto-rickshaws will operate a free service to transport the contestants from the venues to other venues. Autorickshaws are equipped with a separate board. Free travel will be provided by KSRTC and Kollam Corporation-led Gram Vandi to all the venues. Contestants can use this vehicle to go to venues and food pandal.
