Bengaluru – Kolkata Knight Riders’ brilliant victory nullified Virat Kohli’s fight at the Chinnasami Stadium. Kolkata overcame Bengaluru’s target of 183 with seven wickets remaining in 16.5 overs. The performance of Venkatesh Iyer (50 off 30 balls) and Sunil Narine (47 off 22 balls) who scored a half-century made Kolkata’s victory easy.

Chasing a target of 183, openers Phillip Salt and Sunil Narine got off to a good start for Kolkata. The duo added 82 runs for the first wicket and made the fight easy for Kolkata. Narine was dismissed by Mayank Dagar in 6.3 overs. In the very next over, Philip (30 off 20 balls) returned to the pavilion. Venkatesh Iyer’s fight in partnership with Shreyas Iyer (39 off 24 balls) made the victory easy for Kolkata. Kolkata were on the brink of victory when Venkatesh returned after catching Yash Dayal’s ball in 15.1 overs. Rinku Singh (5 off 5 balls) and Shreyas crossed the target in 16.5 overs.

Kohli show again in Chinnasamy

Kohli’s half-century helped Royal Challengers Bangalore score 182 for 6 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Bengaluru’s top scorer is Kohli who scored 83 runs off 59 balls.

After losing the toss, Bengaluru lost their captain Fafe Duplessis (8 off 6 balls). As Duplessis failed to shine, Virat Kohli himself took control of the match. Cameron Greene, who came to the crease after Du Plessis was out, provided good support to Kohli. Both added 65 runs on the scoreboard for the second wicket. With the score at 82, Green (33 off 21 balls) was dismissed by Russell. Kohli moved the scoreboard by partnering Glenn Maxwell who came next. Maxwell (28 off 19 balls) was caught by Rinku Singh off Sunil Narine in 14.4 overs.

Rajat Pattadaar (3 in 4 balls) and Anuj Rawat (3 in 3 balls) who came after could not make significant contributions. But in 17.4 overs, Kohli joined Dinesh Karthik and brought the score to 182. Harshit Rana and Andre Russell took two wickets each and Sunil Narine took one wicket for Kolkata.
