Køkaos in Oslo: – Absolutely extreme

Saturday is set to be one of the hottest days of the year in several places in the country.

With temperatures reminiscent of the South, it will be extra tempting for many in the metropolitan area to seek out bathing spots. Especially the islands in the Oslo Fjord, such as Hovedøya, Gressholmen and Bleikøya, are popular in the summer.

Saturday morning there are long queues for the ferries to the islands in the Oslo Fjord.

– Extremely extreme

– There are extremely long queues, says communications manager in Ruter, Sofie Bruun, to Dagbladet.

According to Dagbladet’s reporter on site, the queues extend from the ferry berth at Aker Brygge to the road in front of City Hall.

– There are many people who want to go to the islands today. We fill the boats as much as we can, but due to infection control rules we can not run at full capacity, says Bruun.

The ferries run between Aker Brygge and the islands until 21.45 on Saturday night.

– We will not put in any extra ferries, and we will not drive anyone to the islands after 21.15, Bruun says to NTB and adds:

– We drive so everyone gets home again, but not until late at night.

Stationary on E18

It is not just at Aker Brygge that people are in a long queue this Saturday. On the E18, there has also been a long queue out of Oslo. At the Bellevue dump at Billingstad, the queue was several hundred meters long.

Traffic operator Annie Serup at Vegtrafikksentralen øst says that they do not know how the queue arose.

– We have also registered that there is a huge queue, people are probably on their way to holiday. In any case, we have not been informed that a major incident has occurred, she tells NTB.
