Speculation which will not be born when you see Sony’s action a few days ago. The banner for Playstation Studios containing games from their first party developer was suddenly updated. The position previously filled by Concrete Genie was suddenly replaced by Sam from Death Stranding. An update that was enough to make rumors about the purchase of Kojima Productions by Sony immediately warmed up, especially when Jim Ryan – the big boss of Sony Interactive Entertainment had already voiced his desire to acquire more studios in the future. However, these speculations were finally refuted.
Having smoldered for a while because of the re-tweet he did for the same banner image without a description, Hideo Kojima finally gave clarification about the status of Kojima Productions. As in his status while working on Death Stranding the other day, Kojima confirmed that Kojima Productions would continue to exist as an independent studio. This means, it does not stand under the banner of any major company today, including Sony. But unfortunately, he himself has not spoken much about their next game project and who will finance it.
