Mumbai: Mitchell Starc was instrumental in breaking India’s lead in the first ODI against Australia. Starc took three of the five wickets that India lost. Starc returns Virat Kohli (4), Suryakumar Yawad (0) and Shubman Gill (20). With this, Starc became fourth in the list of players who have taken the most international wickets for Australia.
Starc has 592 wickets in all three formats. Mitchell Johnson who took 590 wickets is behind. Brett Lee (718), Glenn McGrath (948) and Shane Warne (1001) are ahead of Starc. Virat Kohli’s dismissal also had a feature. Starc dismissed Kohli for the first time in white ball cricket. Kohli returned stuck in front of the wicket. The ball came at 143.9 per hour and Kohli could not do anything. Kohli tries to flick it and misses it. Not only was there no review, Kohli left the crease without even stopping to ask his teammate. Kohli was sure it was a wicket. Watch the video. Along with some tweets…

Meanwhile, India is facing a batting collapse. After bowling out the Aussies for 188 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India were 122 for five in 30 overs when they finally got the information. Ishan Kishan (3), Virat Kohli (4), Suryakumar Yadav (0), Shubman Gill (20) and Hardik Pandya (25) are out. Mitchell Starc took three wickets. Marcus Stoinis has a wicket. Ravindra Jadeja (20) and KL Rahul (41) are at the crease. Earlier, Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj, who took three wickets each, destroyed India. Except for Mitchell Marsh who scored 81 runs off 65 balls, nobody could shine. The first of the three-match series is in Mumbai.
Ishan Kishan, who replaced Rohit Sharma in the team, could not capitalize on the opportunity. Ishan’s life span was only eight balls. The player was trapped in front of the wicket by Stoinis’ ball. Kohli and Suriya returned in the fifth over. Both were trapped in front of the wicket by Starc on back-to-back balls.
