Dubai: India captain Virat Kohli has been awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for the best cricketer of the last decade. The awards were announced on Monday. Kohli was named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Decade.
Over the past decade, Kohli has scored 20,396 runs at an average of 56.97 in all formats of cricket, including 66 centuries and 94 fifties. Kohli has scored over 10,000 runs, 39 centuries and 48 fifties in ODIs at an average of 61.83.
In 2019, Kohli became the first player in international cricket to reach 20,000 runs in a decade in all formats. Kohli achieved this feat in the ODI World Cup match against the Windies. Kohli holds the record set by former Australia captain Ricky Ponting. Ponting is second on the list with 18,962 runs.
